Simple Use Web Score
How we score your website
Your score is a single number out of 100. It is ours — we built it, and we tuned it to reward real substance instead of a tidy-looking page. Here is exactly how we get to it, so you can check our work.
What we look at
We check your live page the way a search engine would, then group what we find into six areas.
- Your writing
- Whether your pages actually say who you are, what you sell, and who it is for.
- Google can only recommend a page it understands. So can a customer.
- How you show up in search
- Your page title, the summary line under it, and the main heading on the page.
- These three things are what a customer reads before deciding to click.
- Your speed
- How quickly your page appears and becomes usable on a phone.
- People leave slow pages. Every extra second costs you customers.
- Your pictures
- Whether images are described in words and sized so they load quickly.
- Descriptions help blind visitors and help Google understand the page.
- Your links
- Whether your pages link to each other so visitors can move around.
- A page nothing links to is a page nobody finds.
- Your hidden labels
- The extra details that tell Google your hours, prices, and reviews.
- They let your listing show stars and details, which wins more clicks.
Why a tidy page can still score low
Most scoring tools only subtract points for mistakes. That means an almost-empty page scores well, because there is nothing on it to get wrong. We think that is a useless answer, so we do it differently: your score has a ceiling until your site earns the right to a high number.
| Highest possible score | When it applies |
|---|---|
| 30 | There is almost nothing on the page to read. Write a few short paragraphs about who you are and what you sell. |
| 55 | There is some writing, but not enough to explain the business. Aim for around 300 words covering what you offer and who it helps. |
| 65 | The page is missing its title, main heading, or summary line. Give every page a clear title, one main heading, and a short summary. |
| 75 | Nothing on the page links to the rest of the site. Add links to your main pages so visitors and Google can find them. |

How the number is worked out
- 1Every page starts at 100.
- 2We run a fixed list of checks and note what each one found on your live page.
- 3Each check that finds a problem takes points off, sized to how much it affects real visitors.
- 4We apply the ceilings above, so a page with little on it stays low even when it has no mistakes.
- 5You get the final number, plus the exact list of what we found and what to do about it.
Every check records what it saw on your page and when, so any number we show you can be traced back to the evidence behind it.
